| ABOUT THE GOAT
Goats, and especially wild ones, are not especially easy to
approach, and will invariably head for the hills at the first sign
of an approaching stranger. This at least reflects part of the
mental attitude displayed by the human Goat, though it has to be
said that the similarities inherent here between animal and human
are not so well defined as in the case of other Chinese signs.
It isn't in terms of social niceties that you will find the Goat to
be ill-at-ease or inclined to avoid your company. On the contrary
the Goat, male or female, is fairly sociable, at least on a
superficial level. But once the trivialities are over, the Goat will
be anxious to turn the conversation in your direction, mainly
because these people have a desire to keep many aspects of their own
nature a closely guarded secret. The Goat is, nevertheless, cultured
and refined, takes delight in fine- art, literature and the company
of intellectual types, and will unburden that deep mind, though only
when the recipient is known thoroughly and trusted absolutely.
The Goat can be something of a sensualist, a fact that displays
itself in a number of ways. There is a love of good food and drink,
and an extravagance when it comes to buying clothes or personal
adornments. Despite this, the Goat really cares very little for
materialistic considerations and could easily live on a desert
island, where the requirements of sensual fulfillment may be no
further away than the nearest sleepy lagoon, with its warm sands and
coconut palms.
The average Goat is naturally lucky, can be dedicated to a cause it
feels strongly about but is likely to be dreadfully insecure,
particularly so about relationships. Getting on with others is
something "that can be a problem to this creature and it is likely
to have many acquaintances though few real friends. You could work
alongside a Goat for months or years, without really ever getting to
know what makes him or her tick as a human being. Both Mr. and Miss
Goat can be equally difficult to get to know, their natural. reserve
acting as a sort of a shell to protect them from what they often see
as a threatening world. Despite this reserve however, once this
individual learns to love, it does so ardently and, true to the
nature of the Goat, usually for life.
