ABOUT THE DRAGON

Even Western tales of dragons make it plain that any self-respecting knight had to have his wits about him to get the better of this fearsome beast. For their part, although the Chinese have always had a slightly softer spot for this scaly, mythical creature than has been the case in the Occident, the general character of the Dragon has remained similar.

All of this tells us a great deal about the sort of people the Chinese of old thought that they were dealing with when they named this member of the Chinese zoo, for the Dragon can be a fearsome animal, the more so when viewed through the eyes of more timorous creatures. Dragons are apt to be dominant by nature and do not care to be crossed; there is an energy and a determination here that rivals any other zodiac sign. Bold and fearless, the Dragon chooses to meet life head on, is always competitive and really does need to win.

Don't run away with the idea that this fire-breathing leftover from fairy tales always thinks things through clearly. On the contrary the Dragon is certain to have an impulsive streak, and it is one that can precipitate this overgrown lizard into heaps of trouble. While the rest of us are sizing up the next job on our personal agenda, the Dragon is already hard at work. Resilience is endemic, and at least the Dragon is capable of learning from past mistakes.

Here is not a creature given to follow anyone, it doesn't suffer fools gladly, and that can include anyone who doesn't think along the same progressive and ambitious lines. So positive is the Dragon's assertion that it knows what it is talking about, there are very few individuals who would dare to argue the point.

The Dragon is often ethical and can be a stickler for detail. There is a natural fire here, no matter what Element ruled the year of the Dragon's birth. Out and about, it should be easy enough to pick out the Dragon, especially if you find yourself near to the complaints department of a high street store. The Dragon is the person at the counter, demanding a refund or complaining about the quality of the goods. But for all the smoke and fire that attends the Dragon's arrival, you will at least know that you have a brave champion on hand. And once the Dragon takes to you, you're a friend for life.
